Benton currently serves as Senior Director, Community Investment at The Community Foundation. Prior to his current role, Benton was a senior program officer supporting grantmaking and community initiatives including the Walmart Washington@Work readiness initiative, The Washington Area Partnership for Immigrants, The Common Ground Fund, and The Collaborative for Education Organizing.

From 2013-2015, Benton served as co-chair of the Raise DC Youth Employment Change Network, the District’s youth investment council. Currently, Benton is a member of the DC Workforce Investment Council, DC Youth Apprenticeship Advisory Committee, the Maryland Adult Literacy Advisory Council and the Maryland Governor’s Taskforce on Adult High Schools. Benton holds a Master’s in Public Administration from The George Washington University and an undergraduate degree from the University of Washington, Seattle.

Dawnn Leary joined The Community Foundation in February 2015 as part of the Community Investment department. Dawnn works to support The Community Foundation’s Economic Opportunity portfolio, including our education and workforce development investments and activities. She comes to The Community Foundation from the Local Initiative Support Corporation (LISC) where she served as a program officer on LISC’s housing and community development portfolio. Prior to LISC, Dawnn held senior management positions at the HSC Foundation and the East of the River Community Development Corporation. She holds a Master’s in Public Policy from the University of Maryland and currently chairs the Board of Directors at the Washington Area Community Investment Fund.
